Atlanta's volunteer drive closed on May 12, 2026 with 37,142 applications — one of the largest single-city pushes in the FIFA World Cup 26™ program.
Of those, 3,200 will work match-day hospitality at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Another 1,400 will support the Fan Festival at Centennial Olympic Park, and roughly 900 will rotate through transport, accessibility, and press liaison roles.
Host Committee leads tell us the selection prioritized bilingual applicants — especially Spanish, Portuguese, and French speakers — followed by Atlanta residents within 30 miles of MBS, and people with prior major-event experience (Olympics, College Football Playoff, the Super Bowl).
"Atlanta has done this before. Half our match-day hospitality crew worked at least one of the last three Super Bowls here." — Sam Lee, volunteer coordinator
Training begins in early April with a five-week online curriculum, followed by site-specific rehearsals in May. The first match in Atlanta is Belgium v Morocco on June 12.
